Head of government Aziz Akhannouch, representing King Mohammed VI at an emergency aid summit for war-torn Gaza in Jordan today , underscored the dire situation unfolding in Gaza.

He lamented the staggering toll of civilian casualties, extensive destruction, and the unbearable conditions faced by over 2.3 million people in the region. Akhannouch highlighted the devastating impact of the ongoing siege, emphasizing the critical need for access to basic necessities like water, food, and medicine.

In line with King Mohammed VI’s role as Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, Akhannouch reaffirmed Morocco’s unwavering commitment to supporting its Palestinian brothers, stressing that conflicts should never politicize or hinder humanitarian assistance.

Akhannouch urged the facilitation of international humanitarian agencies, particularly UNRWA, in delivering vital aid to Palestinians and condemned forced displacement and targeting of civilians, advocating for peaceful dialogue and negotiation as the only path to lasting peace and security.

Echoing King Mohammed VI’s stance, Akhannouch reiterated Morocco’s support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital based on the two-state solution.
