Morocco will contribute senior military officers, police training and a field hospital to the international stabilization force in Gaza, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita told the UN General Assembly, while reiterating Rabat’s support for an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.

Morocco had signed an agreement in July governing its participation in the Gaza force, including the deployment of senior Royal Armed Forces officers, gendarmerie and police personnel.

Bourita said Morocco had “decided to participate in the international force to achieve stability in Gaza” and would contribute through humanitarian and security measures, including “training Palestinian police, deploying senior military officers in the internal security forces, establishing a field hospital,” as well as programs to counter extremism.

He said lasting peace required an independent, sovereign and viable Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living alongside Israel in peace and security.

Bourita also criticized Israeli measures in the West Bank, settler violence and what he called “unilateral Israeli measures and repeated violations of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

Security threats from armed groups formed another part of the speech. Bourita said such groups were increasingly seeking to “control maritime corridors and straits, threaten freedom of navigation and target facilities in many countries.”

He called for sanctions against armed groups and their sponsors and accountability for those providing financing or weapons. Morocco had made similar arguments this week at a GCC-organized meeting in New York focused on non-state armed groups.

On the Sahara, Bourita cited Security Council Resolution 2797, adopted in October 2025, and said the dispute had since entered “an irreversible path of breaking with the past and looking toward the future for its final settlement.”

He said Morocco considered the process to rest on principles set by the Security Council, including that there was no solution “outside the framework of autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty.”
