Algerian wrestlers withdraw from Arab championship over Moroccan map
Saturday 25 May 2024 - 14:01

Five Algerian wrestlers in under-17 and under-23 categories withdrew from the Arab Greco-Roman Free Wrestling Championship in Amman, Jordan.

The reason for their withdrawal is the presence of a map of Morocco on the shirts of Moroccan participants.

This is the fourth time Algerian athletes have withdrawn from competitions due to the Moroccan map issue, with previous cases in handball, gymnastics, and football.

The Algerian Wrestling Federation could be penalized for the athletes’ withdrawal. The Championship began on Friday and continues until Saturday.
