Hespress learned from a well-informed source that “Gabonese authorities relieved the honorary consul of the State of Gabon in the Orient and Fez region, Said Abdelkader Fakiki, who was appointed to the post years ago.”
“His accreditation was canceled and Moroccan foreign authorities were notified of this, and his diplomatic card was withdrawn.”
The Hespress source, who preferred to remain anonymous, explained that “the decision of Gabonese authorities is related to the fact that the honorary consul hosted an element affiliated with the Gabonese opposition, which angered the new regime,” noting that “new changes made by this regime in Libreville precipitated this step.”
It is worth mentioning that the authorities overseeing foreign affairs in Gabon have appointed an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary in the capital Rabat, who will start his work very soon.
The Republic of Gabon had previously appointed Mohamed Mednaoui Filali as honorary consul in Casablanca, while politician and community activist Said Abdelkader Fakiki was appointed as honorary consul in the East and Fez regions.
