The Moroccan Bar Associations strongly condemned in a statement the recent arrest of Tunisian lawyer Sania Dahmani by security forces.
They described the raid on her office and the detention as a “violent landing and occupation” that undermines the independence of the legal profession.
The association called the incident a “legal and political setback” and a “failed attack” on the Tunisian revolution’s legacy of legal and human rights struggles and considered it an “unacceptable act” that undermines the “societal standing” of lawyers.
Expressing “unconditional solidarity” with their Tunisian colleagues, the Moroccan Bar Associations demanded the release of Dahmani and other detained lawyers. They called for accountability for those involved and an end to “provocations and attacks” on lawyers and their institutions.
