A landmark agreement was signed today in Rabat, Morocco, establishing the first international center for research and training in economic intelligence to be headquartered in Dakhla.

This collaborative effort combines three established organizations: the  Dakhla-based Forum of African Associations for Economic Intelligence, the Strategic Union of Economic Intelligence Professionals from San Antonio, USA, and the Paris-based International Francophone Association for Economic Intelligence.

The center will focus on several key areas: developing joint research projects in economic intelligence, offering training courses to enhance the capabilities of businesses, communities, and government agencies, and fostering partnerships with public and private institutions, both domestic and international. By leveraging the expertise of these established organizations, the center aims to become a leading African hub for economic intelligence research and training.

“The ultimate goal is to work to make this center a nucleus of international quality, starting from the Open University in Dakhla, and this city, which in particular will become, through the establishment of this center, a global nucleus in the service of not only Africa, but also various other continents,” said Driss Guerraoui President of the Forum of African Associations for Economic Intelligence.

“The center will enhance South-South cooperation on the African continent, as well as cooperation between Africa and other continents, in line with our country’s priorities at the international level,” stressing that “there is no doubt that the Atlantic dimension will be present, in line with our country’s major directions.”

Paul Santili, President of the Strategic Consortium of Artificial Intelligence Professionals, and Philippe Clerc, President of the International Francophone Association for Economic Intelligence, stressed the importance of this center, strengthening partnerships, serving rapprochement between the world and Africa, and enhancing economic cognitive research.

The establishment of this center coincides with the recent activities of the Open University of Dakhla, which hosted the 4th Forum of African Associations for Economic Intelligence under the patronage of King Mohammed VI. R
