A task force comprising representatives from Marrakech’s local authorities, the economic affairs department of the Wilaya, and the National Food Safety Office (ONSSA)launched a campaign to crack down on fraudulent practices in fast food establishments across Marrakech.

This follows a tragic incident of poisoning at a fast food restaurant in the M’hamid district in April, which led to the intoxication of at least sixty victims, with four fatalities.

The snack bar owner is facing charges of “participation in involuntary homicide” and “concealment of evidence at the scene of a crime, according to local media. His trial is scheduled to begin on May 8, 2024.
