KFC closes all 108 Malaysia outlets due to boycotts
Tuesday 30 April 2024 - 13:44

American fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has temporarily closed all 108 of its outlets in Malaysia following a widespread boycott in support of Palestine. The boycott, driven by public pressure, has led QSR Brands, the company that owns and operates KFC franchises in the country, to adopt a more Islamic identity in its stores to demonstrate national solidarity.

The move comes amidst rising tensions in the Middle East and growing support for the Palestinian cause within Malaysia. Consumers have been actively boycotting products and businesses perceived to be associated with Israel or its supporters.
