US President Joe Biden appointed Joshua M. Harris Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria.
Harris is expected to succeed Ambassador Elizabeth Moore Aubin, who has held this position since February 9, 2022.
This proposal will soon be examined by the US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, and is pending confirmation.
Harris visited twice, in September and December 2023, as part of a tour to Morocco and Algeria, intended to revive the political process concerning the Western Sahara.
On site, he had talks with the leader of the separatist Polisario front.
