Israeli soldiers detained an elderly Palestinian woman suffering from Alzheimer’s, considering her an “unlawful combatant,” and transferred her to Damon Prison in northern Israel.
According to Haaretz, she remained there for about two months before being released two weeks ago following an appeal.
Fahamiya Khalidi, 82 years old, was arrested in early December in a school in Gaza, where she sought refuge after fleeing her home due to shelling.
The same source noted that prison authorities refused a request by a lawyer from the Israeli organization Physicians for Human Rights to meet with her.
