Morocco’s Head of government Aziz Akhannouch, has the strongest digital presence compared to other ministers during the last two years, with an average of 3 publications per month catching the attention of every Moroccan with internet access, according to a recent study.

The report by the Observatory of Digital Public Opinions, titled “Assessment of the Government’s First Two Years of Digital Communication (October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2023),” analyzes and evaluates the government’s digital presence, including blogs, forums, digital press, and websites.

Assessing the digital engagement of the rest of the ministers, the Minister of Health and Social Protection ranked first, with 1430 publications, followed by the Minister of Equipment and Water (930 publications) and then the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (180 publications).

Morocco’s government, in the last two years, has issued over a million publications, averaging 1.493 per day and affecting about 10.8 billion people, highlighted in the same report.

Every Moroccan with internet access has been stopped by 327 government-related publications, which is around one every two days. This indicates an increase of over 21% in the number of people influenced by government news via digital platforms during the period under review, compared to the last two years of the previous government’s tenure.

Facebook, according to the same study, emerged as the dominant platform, representing 90.6% of all people reached over the period, making it an essential platform for reaching the general public.

Speaking of the same platform, the study indicated that The Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication ranked first as the most engaged there, with over 1,760 publications produced over two years. Following were the Ministers of Education, Water and Infrastructure, Industry and Trade, and Health, reflecting the major topics of interest among Moroccan internet users.

These four ministries displayed a significant commitment to communication by sharing approximately 5,000 publications on Facebook throughout the assessment period, an average of seven per day. On LinkedIn, despite being a quantitatively less important platform, the Minister of Industry and Trade was ranked first among the most active, accounting for 46% of engagement actions. Following was the Minister of Equipment and Water.
