Dilan Yesilgoz, a former Turkish-Kurdish child refugee, arrived in Europe by boat, turned Dutch Justice Minister, is leading in polls ahead of the parliamentary election on Nov. 22, aiming to become the Netherlands’ first woman prime minister.

Yesilgoz, who arrived in the Netherlands as a seven-year-old Turkish-Kurdish refugee, advocates for stricter immigration measures. She proposes implementing a two-tier asylum system, canceling permanent residence permits, and enhancing overall control over migration.

Married for nine years to a Dutchman and without children, Dilan Yesilgoz was born in Ankara, the Turkish capital, and grew up in Amsterdam with her Turkish parents. She has been actively involved in political work until pursuing the top position.
