The budget of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection is expected to reach nearly 30.7 billion dirhams in 2024, up 9.1% on 2023, according to the presentation note for next year’s Appropriation Bill (PLF-2024).
This rise will follow the increase made under the 2023 Appropriation Bill dedicated primarily to upgrading health infrastructures, said the note published on the Ministry of Economy and Finance website.
In addition, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the University Hospitals (CHU) have benefited from substantial budgetary allocations in recent years, according to the same source, adding that 5,500 budgetary allocations will be made under the PLF-2024, bringing the total number of new positions created over the 2017-2024 period to almost 42,700, including 35,500 for the Department of Health.
According to the presentation note, the year 2024 will be marked by the implementation of a series of actions that form part of the ongoing overhaul of the national healthcare system, including the realization of projects covered by agreements signed before His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
