In response to the devasting earthquake that hit the region of AL-Haouz on Friday evening, Morocco launched a massive aid operation to help the affected people in the region right after the strike.
In the Civil Protection warehouse in Al-Arjat (Sale), seven trucks were loaded with essential supplies, including blankets, camp beds, and lighting equipment.
These efforts are part of the swift humanitarian assistance that the country tries to provide to the distressed residents of the affected region.
Civil Protection teams, in the early hours of Saturday morning, worked tirelessly to load the trucks, ensuring the swift delivery of aid to the earthquake-affected inhabitants.
From the early hours onwards, other Civil Protection units in various regions across the Kingdom of Morocco, have been mobilized, with the mission of providing humanitarian aid to all people affected by the earthquake.
According to Hespress Ar, rapid response from the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces was witnessed, as a significant number of military vehicles were observed along the highway connecting Casablanca and Marrakech on Saturday morning,
The Armed forces also brought in excavators to help in the search for victims and the rescue of citizens who were still trapped under the rubble.
Additionally, both military and Ministry of Health and Social Protection ambulances were observed.
At the highway checkpoint connecting Casablanca and Marrakech, Royal Gendarmerie officials and civil protection members were also present.
The Moroccan authorities are trying to swiftly intervene to rescue all citizens affected by the earthquake and extract the victims trapped under collapsed houses.
According to the Ministry of Interior, 296 deaths were registered across the provinces and prefectures of Al-Houz, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Chichaoua, and Taroudant, as part of the preliminary figures of 2 AM on Saturday.
The initial tally revealed that the earthquake caused injuries to 153 individuals with varying degrees of severity. The injured individuals were immediately transferred to the hospital as to receive necessary medical care.
Moulay Brahim is under the rubble:
In the aftermath of the earthquake that struck most of the regions in Morocco, late Friday evening, Moulay Brahim witnessed significant injuries and damage.
In video footage widely shared among Moroccan netizens, people from Moulay Brahim were calling authorities to take urgent action, as many victims were trapped under the rubble.
The residents of Moulay Brahim were waiting for a professional rescue team to extract those who were trapped under collapsed houses.
Pictures and Videos on all social media platforms showed the serious casualties left by the devasting quake.
The building and infrastructure in Moulay Brahim, just like other affected regions in Morocco, now lie in ruins, and people are now left without houses.
According to Nasser Jabour, Director of the National Institute of Geophysics, predicts that no aftershocks to happen after the 7.0 magnitude earthquake, in a statement to SNRTnews.
