The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) disclaimed on Friday any responsibility for the power outage that occurred Thursday evening at the Fez Sports Complex during the friendly game between the Moroccan Olympic football team and its Brazilian counterpart, explaining that the stadium is not connected to its electricity distribution network.
In a clarification, ONEE refuted an article published by an Arabic online newspaper that contained serious accusations against the organization, implying it was to blame for the power disruption at the sports complex on the evening of September 7, 2023.
“The Office emphasizes that the Fez Sports Complex does not receive its power supply from ONEE’s Electricity Distribution Network. Therefore, ONEE cannot, under any circumstances, be held accountable for this incident,” emphasized the same source.
“While condemning these unethical actions and expressing regret that the disseminated news was not verified beforehand, ONEE reserves the right to take legal action against these severe accusations,” stated the office’s release.
