National Airports Office (ONDA) said that heavy rainfall on Saturday caused flooding in sub-valleys near Oujda Angads Airport.
The ONDA said that the eastern region received, starting at 11pm, a significant amount of rain in a short period of time. This led to the closure of roads linking the airport to Oujda and Beni Drar, and damaged residential facilities and a commercial market.
The flooding also caused water to enter the airport terminal and other airport facilities. However, ONDA said that its teams, along with civil defense and local authorities, were able to drain the water and clear the damage by Sunday morning.
No flights were canceled, but some flights were delayed due to the flooding.
