Police in Casablanca’s Hay Hassani district on Wednesday arrested two students, aged 23 and 39, for their involvement in a case of sexual blackmail and identity theft to incite debauchery.
Police had opened a judicial investigation following two complaints filed by two female students accusing the suspects of usurping the identities of administrative executives and university professors, a security source said.
The aim was to incite the students to debauchery and subject them to sexual blackmail by threatening to use social networks, the same source added.
Through this investigation, the police identified other female students who had been victims of similar acts, in addition to the two suspects who were arrested in flagrante delicto for possession of electronic devices suspected of having been used in this criminal activity.
The suspects have been taken into police custody for investigation under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office, in order to clarify the circumstances of this case and the criminal acts of which they are accused.
