The Supreme Council for Education, Training, and Scientific Research presented its draft strategy for educational reform during its second meeting on Wednesday, where it expressed its hope to make public education “an influential reference on the reality and future of the Moroccan school.”
This remains the first objective among the Supreme Council for Education, Training, and Scientific Research’s five strategic goals for educational reform during its present mandate.
The strategy will oversee the Council’s efforts on educational reform throughout its second term, which runs from 2023 to 2027, according to Hespress AR.
The Supreme Council aims to accomplish the new school model by “enabling the council to have a charter that reflects its approaches to the educational issue and ensures ownership in the performance of members and frameworks,” as well as “maintaining harmony between the set goals and how the Council and its structures operate.”
The Council also aims to establish a competent framework for assessments that meet the needs of institutional and social stakeholders, and to prioritize strategic monitoring as one of its core components.
The Supreme Council’s second strategic goal is to “develop the proactive proposal of transformative approaches towards the new Moroccan school.”
The council seeks to accomplish this by identifying the elements of the “new Moroccan school” using a complex evaluation methodology, in addition to preparing monthly reports on its progress to follow up with the new school.
The council’s draft strategy proposed the development of closer linkages with the parties involved in the building of the new school, based on an understanding of the goals and requirements of each actor.
The Supreme Council for Education, Training, and Scientific Research also aims to break out from its “traditional” position by “stimulating continuous community mobilization around the new school at the national level.”
The new strategy for educational reform includes the establishment of a permanent interactive platform, and the inclusion of the social, cultural, and psychological aspects of assessment studies and exploratory research.
The goals of the council plan include “expanding relations with similar institutions at the continental and international levels and developing relations with organizations related to education.”
The proposed approach is part of the Council’s commitment to creating a new model for managing education that emphasizes soft skills, comprehension, and creative teaching methods to address the shortcomings of Morocco’s long-standing educational system.
The council underlined the importance of developing committees for the continual renewal and adjustment of curricula, programs, and training as well as the continuous evaluation of schools.
