Authorities in the U.S. state of Texas announced Monday they are pursuing a man suspected of killing 5 people, including an eight-year-old boy, after a gun shooting in the suspect’s backyard.

More than 200 local and international policemen are involved in the search for the man, a Mexican named Francesco Oropiza.

At a weekend press conference, Greg Keppers, the sheriff of San Jacinto County north of Houston, warned that the gunman was dangerous “and could be anywhere.”

Authorities offered a financial prize of $80,000 for information giving access to the man, whom FBI special agent James Smith called a “monster.”

The 38-year-old man is suspected of opening fire on Friday night inside a house in Cleveland, killing five people, all from Honduras, between the ages of 8 and 31.

According to local authorities, the man was training shooting in his garden when his neighbors asked him to stop shooting so that the infant could sleep.

Kepers said the gunman entered his neighbors’ home and went shooting at a “execution-like” act, shooting at the heads of a number of residents of the house.

The incident called for major condemnation in the United States and Honduras, the small Central American country from which the victims come from.

On Sunday, Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott posted a tweet, condemned by his opponents, noting that the victims were “illegal immigrants.”

Abbott is a fierce opponent of the administration’s Democratic President Joe Biden administration’s immigration policy, and has sparked controversy in recent months after he transported immigrants who illegally entered U.S. territory by bus to Democratic strongholds.

In the United States, more than 130 people per day are killed by firearms, more than half of them suicide.
