This year’s edition of The Global Financial Centers Index 33 declared that Casablanca continues to be the leading African financial centre, despite falling back by a few spots in the ranking.
The global GFC 33 ranking showed that Casablanca ranked 57.
In the Middle East and Africa, the report noted a balance in results, despite the leading centers of the region falling back in the index. Yet, previously lower ranked centers are now gaining some spots and seeing an overall improvement.
Regionally, Casablanca comes fourth after Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Tel Aviv. To assess these financial centers, the report took in consideration the following features, connectivity, diversity and specialty.
New York remains the world leading financial center, followed by London, Singapore and Hong Kong. Paris, Shenzhen, and Beijing were replaced in the top 10 by Chicago, Boston, and Seoul.
This edition of the index was created using quantitative measures provided by The World Bank, The Economist Intelligence Unit, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, and the United Nations.
