Spanish actress Hiba Abouk broke her silence on her relationship with Moroccan football player Achraf Hakimi, after news broke that the couple is going through a divorce amid sexual assault allegations against Hakimi.
“I feel the need to explain myself so that I can resume my personal, public and professional life in the least harmful and traumatic way possible,” Abouk posted on her Instagram story.
The actress explained that the decision to separate was taken by both Hakimi and herself, long before the sexual assault claims came out against the Atlas Lion.
“In my life, I have always been and will be on the side of the victims,” Abouk stressed, adding that “given the seriousness of the accusation we only have to trust in the good work of justice.”
Achraf Hakimi was charged with rape early in March after a 23-year-old woman reported him.
