Morocco’s football star Achraf Hakimi has denied accusations of rape made against him by a French woman, Spain’s national daily sport newspaper MARCA reported.

Hakimi appeared Monday smiling at the FIFA The Best ceremony, that took place in Paris. MARCA reported that the Moroccan defender is ‘very calm’ and maintained that the accusations of an alleged rape, as described in Le Parisien, are totally false.

Defender for Paris Saint-Germain, was pictured grinning last night during The Best FIFA award ceremony in Paris, France, despite a rape accusation against him being made the same evening.

The athlete, who was named one of FIFA’s top 11 players in the world, smiled as his name was revealed at the ceremony, but the rest of the world outside of the event was horrified by an article published by the French media Le Parisien that said the Moroccan player had recently been accused of rape by a young woman.

Le Parisien’s last night article stated that Achraf Hakimi is currently being investigated for allegations of rape. The incident was reported by a young woman who spoke to the police at Nogent-sur-Marne station over the weekend. Although she initially declined to file a complaint, the prosecution has taken up the case.

The young lady explained that she met the player through Instagram and met him at his place this past weekend as his girlfriend and two kids were away in Dubai, where he allegedly assaulted her.
