Tensions between artists brewed behind the scenes, leading to Club World Cup theme song's delayed release

Moroccan audiences were surprised to see the FIFA Club World Cup official theme song came out days after the week-long tournament’s grand opening last Tuesday.

Behind the confusing delay was an inner artists conflict, according to Hespress AR sources, that caused trouble for production and complicated the artistic project.

Due to heated disagreements between the participating artists involved in this project, the supervising production staff were confused, left to fend for solutions to release the project with the least damage possible.

Staff were forced to diversify filming locations and scenes to prevent artists from drowning out their personal issues with one another, by keeping them separated throughout production and away from each other.

Still, some scenes demanded that they all gather together, and they made the final cut.

According to a Hespress AR source, the artists were upset by several confusions and organizational issues that occurred when filming the song’s music video in Rabat, especially since some of the performers did not stick to the schedule and had others wait a long time as Morocco experienced an unprecedented cold wave.

The song “Welcome to Morocco” received wide-spread attention, especially because it brought together a group of the brightest stars of the Moroccan music scene for the first time, under the supervision of the Moroccan producer Nader Belkhayat, mostly known as “RedOne.”

The manager of one of the artists allegedly interfered with the director’s work during filming and forced him to change the angles in addition to making a number of other remarks.

The technical staff was reportedly confused which is why they expressed their frustration with this situation, including the German director who denounced the interference with his work.

The Hespress source claimed that a number of scenes were cut out during editing as a result of FIFA’s interference and opposition to certain things, most notably the fact that several musicians came on set wearing clothing with well-known brand logos, which “FIFA” deemed to be free advertising.

Despite the fact that the Club World Cup in Tangiers has been ongoing for days now, the song wasn’t released on time because the artists were ravaged by FIFA’s intervention.

Hespress learned that while the rest of the participating artists in the Club World Cup song accepted the compensation amounts, both the artist Asmaa Lamnawar and Dozi rejected them.

Dizzy Dros, a well-known rapper, Rym Fikri, a rising name, Hatim Ammor, Zouhir Bahaoui, Nouamane Belaiachi, and Aminux are all featured in the Red One produced song.

The same source emphasized that in addition to paying for their lodging in a hotel in Rabat, the organizing organization also gave the artists symbolic amounts of money.

Despite difficulties and issues that arose behind the scenes, “Welcome to Morocco” was able to gain the admiration of the Moroccan audience. The video was widely shared all over social media and amassed over a million views less than 24 hours after it was posted on Youtube.

Moroccan activists praised the video clip for showcasing authentic Moroccan elements like zellij, architecture, jewelry, and fashion, as well as a variety of diverse regions with rich cultural diversity.
