As severe weather continues to batter parts of Morocco, prompting heavy rainfall and flooding in several cities, event organizers and Moroccan artists have postponed or canceled cultural and artistic activities in a show of solidarity with affected communities.

The decisions have led to the suspension of concerts, theater productions and comedy shows scheduled at venues across the country, with organizers citing responsibility and sensitivity to the current situation. Many events have been deferred until conditions improve and stability returns to flood-hit areas.

The move comes amid a national climate of sympathy and support, particularly for families forced to evacuate their homes in flooded regions.

Organizers of the “Shyoukh Al Aita” concert announced the postponement of the event due to unfavorable weather conditions. In a statement, they said the decision reflected a spirit of national solidarity and respect for the country’s current circumstances, adding that a new date would be announced once conditions normalize.

Other theater and comedy performances have also been put on hold, as artistic groups and organizers opted to temporarily suspend activities in solidarity with residents of affected cities, including Ksar El Kebir, where flooding forced several families to leave their homes.

Popular singer Badr Ouabi also announced the cancellation of his planned tour in several cities, saying the decision was made out of respect for the national situation and a sense of responsibility toward his audience. He said art cannot be detached from social reality, and that exceptional circumstances require exceptional decisions.

Cultural observers say the measures reflect growing awareness among artists and cultural stakeholders of the need to respond responsibly to crises, emphasizing that art remains connected to society’s concerns rather than serving solely as entertainment.

Calls to suspend festive events have also circulated widely on social media, with users arguing that holding concerts and shows while some regions struggle with flooding runs counter to the spirit of solidarity prevailing across the country.
