Strong relationships are the basis for leading a happy life, an ongoing study, which began in 1938, revealed.
“The Harvard Study of Adult Development” tracked the lives of 724 Boston men for over 80 years, and eventually expanded to include the original participants’ spouses and children.
The study revealed that strong relationships affected people’s happiness throughout their lives. They are “intrinsic to everything we do and everything we are,” the researchers wrote in their book “The Good Life.”
According to the study, participants highlighted their relationships and connections with other people when asked how they overcame adversity.
The researchers noted that happiness is not a destination to be reached, but a process that requires building strong connections with other people.
