President of the Confederation of African Football Patrice Motsepe said that the Moroccan national team’s inability to participate in the African Cup competitions for local players makes him sad, stressing that he wants to see the national team in Algeria playing in “CHAN”.
After his arrival at Rabat-Salé Airport to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup draw, this Friday morning, Motsepe spoke to Hespress,saying that he made efforts to bring the two parties closer together, noting that Morocco and Algeria have a great place in his heart, refusing to mix politics with sports.
The same continental official highlighted that, through his communication with Algerian officials, they confirmed that they wanted Morocco to participate and that they would welcome the Moroccan national team in their country, indicating that he had asked Algeria to allow the national team’s delegation to enter directly.
Motsepe explained that the presence of Fouzi Lekgaa in the continental sports event is very important. “He is a key member of the Confederation and helps the organization a lot with his opinions.” He added
In the same context, Motsepe warned that during the coming periods, the two countries (Morocco and Algeria) will accept the opportunities to organize the African Cup of Nations, and there will be big movements of fans.
“The fans create an exceptional atmosphere and are important in football matches.”
The spokesman added that he is very proud of Morocco and the historic achievement of the national team in the World Cup in Qatar, noting that he will also be proud of any African team that can achieve the same great achievement as the national lions.
