Y-PEER, a trailblazing and comprehensive network of over 500 non-profit organizations and governmental institutions, reflected on its many accomplishments around sexual and reproductive health in Morocco, discussing future projects in an interview with Hespress EN.

Thousands of youdng people who actively participate in the organization strive to achieve particular objectives in Y-PEER’s intervention areas.

Peer Education Training and Research Institute, or Y-PEER, explained to Hespress EN how it hopes to work on youth capacity building, citizenship and human rights, developing educational materials and intervention techniques, promoting sustainable development goals, promoting sexual and reproductive health, and raising awareness about preventing sexually transmitted diseases with its future projects for the year 2023.

It also aims to counter violent extremism, promote peace and security, and combat gender-based violence and child marriage.

Y-PEER Morocco cooperated with the Moroccan coalition RHRN2 to provide a summer workshop on approaches for preparing Policy Briefs/Papers on sexual and reproductive health rights as part of the “Right Here Right Now 2” project.

The project enables young people in all their diversity to enjoy their sexual and reproductive health and rights in societies where there is equity and equality between genders in all aspects of life.

Y-PEER’s summer program in particular was designed for professionals, university professors, and doctorate students interested in sexual and reproductive health rights issues such as child marriage, gender-based violence, unwanted/unintentional pregnancies, and STI/HIV awareness in Morocco.

This year, Y-PEER organized a number of significant events.

The group undertook a study on child marriage in the Beni Mellal Khenifra region, ultimately discovering that the area has the highest number of child marriages in Morocco.

This comprehensive study and its analysis will now aid in the submission of a statistical approach to finding solutions to end child marriages in Morocco with the help of governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Y-PEER explained how this year, it also took on the role of mentoring professionals working in disability centers around Morocco in order to strengthen their capacities in terms of reproductive and sexual health awareness, with this initiative being a first in Morocco.

The association mentioned to Hespress EN that it took on a new challenge by establishing a digital campaign to increase awareness on a boundless spectrum while adapting its studies and courses to meet the demands of this era’s digital hurdles.

To make its accumulated knowledge easily accessible to everyone, Y-PEER developed a variety of audiovisual materials, including a digital radio station.

The organization worked with various influential health professionals to make sure that its initiatives reached a wider audience in addition to those who voluntarily attended its seminars and workshops.

By providing youth a voice and ensuring that younger generations in Morocco have adequate sex education, among other objectives, Y-PEER promises to maintain its enthusiasm, commitment, and involvement in humanitarian causes in 2023.
