Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has been voted third best goalkeeper in the world by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
The Moroccan international goalkeeper obtained a total of 55 points, and ranks behind the Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, first of the ranking, and Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, second.
Thibaut Courtois with a total of 125 points gets the IFFHS award for the second time.
Other goalkeepers have set records for this award with 3 times for Oliver Kahn, Walter Zenga, Jose Luis Chilavert, and 5 times for Gianluigi Buffon, Iker Casillas, Manuel Neuer.
Yassine Bounou, thanks to his great performance in the World Cup with the Moroccan team, has conceded only 5 goals in 6 games including 1 own goal, which is fewer goals than Emiliano Martinez who won the Golden Glove, and conceded 12 goals including 5 in penalty kicks in 7 games.
The Moroccan goalkeeper also had a remarkable season with his club Sevilla where he won the famous Zamora trophy, which crowns the best goalkeeper of the Spanish La Liga.
The rest of the IFFHS ranking places the Croatian, Dominik Livakovic, in 4th place ahead of the French Hugo Lloris, and the Pole, Wojciech Szczensny.
