Foreign trade shows an increase in import and export: HCP

The import unit value index recorded an increase of 26.6% during the third quarter of 2022 compared to the same quarter of 2021, said the Moroccan High Commission for Planning (HCP) in a recent report.

This development is primarily the result of increases in the unit values of energy and lubricants by 76.9%, semi-finished products by 32.0%, and food, beverages, and tobacco by 30,8%.

Crude products of mineral origin rose by 97.0%, while finished products of industrial equipment went up by 7.5%, finished consumer products by 1.9%, and raw products of animal and plant origin by 12.7%.

In comparison, the export unit value index rose by 22.8% in the third quarter of 2022 as compared to the same period in 2021.

This increase comes as a result of higher unit values for semi-finished products, which increased by 56.3%, crude products of mineral origin, which increased by 61.3%, and finished industrial equipment products, which increased by 19.7%.

As for finished consumer products, they increased by 3.9%, raw products of animal and plant origin, increased by 20.3%, food, beverages, and tobacco, all increased by 2.0%, and energy and lubricants, increased by 30.4%, concluded the HCP report.
