A memorandum of understanding relating to the creation of a new plant for cutting, animation and production of textile and leather covers for automotive seats, was signed, Friday in Casablanca, by Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, and Director General of Faurecia operations in Morocco and Tunisia, Taoufik Laamiri.

This protocol with Faurecia, a company of the Forvia group, aims to invest more than 150 million dirhams in the launch of a new unit of the group in Morocco, in Salé (Rabat twin city), to consolidate its position in the automotive ecosystem, said the two parties in a statement, noting that this investment will create 1,400 direct jobs by 2028.

This project is part of the implementation of the Directions of  King Mohammed VI, to make productive investment a key lever for job creation, the revival of the national economy and acceleration of the anchoring of Morocco in promising sectors, said the same source.

Speaking on this occasion, Mezzour said that with this new investment, the Moroccan automotive platform confirms its attractiveness and the confidence it enjoys with the actors of the ecosystem.

“This new commitment of a world leader attests to the sustained investment dynamics that our platform is experiencing and its great competitiveness,” added the Minister
