Morocco’s National Education Ministry plans to implement the Indian education system known as the Teaching Approach at the Right Level (TaRL), in a move to improve learning quality.

The TaRL approach aims to boost student confidence by taking into account the child’s foundational skill level and assigning challenging yet achievable tasks to help progress. Instructors recognize each child’s accomplishments and exercise patience as children learn at their own pace.

After the first phase’s positive outcome on learners in some regions, the approach is expected to be generalized for the 2022-2026 academic years, said the Minister in a meeting held Tuesday.

Minister of Education, Chakib Benmoussa said the adoption of this approach was based on a diagnosis that took place in some primary educational institutions in Morocco last academic year.

This action was taken after National Education Minister Chakib Benmoussa met with Indian and Moroccan officials and experts to discuss the approach further.

The Minister also emphasized the importance of corrective support for some students who struggle at the start of each school year.

Benmoussa said his Ministry seeks to support the efforts of the different interests of the government’s long-term vision.

The government official explained this methodology, emphasizing the importance of taking advantage of international experiences and adapting them to local teaching, according to levels and regions.

The Minister also praised the efforts of the inspectors, directors of educational institutions, and all of the professors who were involved in this process at the respective elementary levels – in addition to their responsibilities and daily work.
