The International Football Federation Association (FIFA) released Qatar’s world cup anthem featuring the Moroccan singer Manal and Moroccan international performer Nora Fatehi.

‘Light the sky’, produced by Red One, one of the most influential record producers in history, featured Balqees Fathi from Yemen and Rahma Riad from Iraq alongside Manal and Nora Fatehi.

Balqees has been active in the music scene ever since 2011. Coming from an artistic family, she has always opened up on new cultures and tried different styles which showed perfectly when she shot a music video for her song ‘Sabra’ in Morocco.

Starring iconic Moroccan actor Amine Naji, the music video took place in the Moroccan Atlas mountains. This collaboration knew many Moroccan names, the whole production team, and cast were Moroccans.

The project reflected Balqees’ admiration of Moroccan culture which she always expressed in social media.

Nora Fatehi represents both Morocco and India with her participation, being an international performer based in India with Moroccan origin.

Red One has previously worked with the FIFA world cup. Back in 2006, he produced the single “Bamboo” which later became that year’s world cup anthem.

In the same year, FIFA named him the main producer and songwriter for the 2006 World Cup Official Music Program.

The music video shows the artists with dozens of dancers, following creative choreographies, in different places.

The song has both English and Arabic lyrics and some Indian lines sung by Nora Fatehi. Manal rapped the chorus verse in Darija.

The video showed many female referees in the stadium with their flags and cards.

The song has a distinct Arabic flavor to it and the repetitive ‘Hayya Hayya’ in the lyrics, which translates to Come on gives it a welcoming vibe.

Manal took it to Instagram stories to express how proud she feels to be representing Morocco in Light the sky.

The music video shooting took place in Qatar in September.
