After battering Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the Turks and Caicos Islands with torrential rain and flooding, Hurricane Fiona grew to a dangerous Category 4 storm on Wednesday as it headed toward Bermuda, according to a U.S. government agency.
The National Hurricane Center stated in an early Wednesday update that Fiona was packing gusts as high as 130 mph (215 kPh) and was anticipated to increase as it traveled north. Fiona’s eye is currently around 700 miles (1125 km) southwest of Bermuda.
