Sinopharm, a vaccine manufacturing giant announced plans to enhance local vaccine production in the African continent.
Liu Jingzhen, chairman of Sinopharm declared that sustainable vaccines were critical to secure the global population from the deadly virus, according to the New Vision media outlet.
In a statement given at the pharmaceutical group’s office in China, the chairman affirmed that collaborations with a lot of countries are to be enhanced.
Jingzhen said that localized vaccines in Africa are produced in Morocco and Egypt.
He highlighted the fact that great efforts are being made to promote further promote vaccine production in Morocco.
Sinopharm roots for the upcoming collaboration with Africa which shall deepen the relationship between the pharmaceutical giant and the continent.
A study previously conducted in Morocco by the peer-reviewed journal BMC Public Health showed that Sinopharm vaccine effectiveness varies from the different age groups.
The study findings showed that two shots of the vaccine product were highly protective against COVID-19-associated serious or critical hospitalization in working-age adults under real-world conditions and moderately effective in older adults.
The public health surveillance dataset made available for this study contained clinical data on the severity of COVID-19-related hospitalization in Morocco added the same source.
