Police authorities in Fez arrested six people today, whose ages vary from 31 to 62, suspected of being linked to a criminal network that forges foreign currencies in the city of Sefrou.

Members of this criminal network are suspected of being involved in fraud, claiming the ability to search for treasures and artifacts, as well as being involved in counterfeiting foreign currencies, particularly the Belarusian rouble and the US dollar that they disburse for the benefit of organized networks, according to the preliminary research data.

The authorities confiscated an amount of 10,391 counterfeit Belarusian rouble and US dollar banknotes, the paper used to print them, as well as three cars and metal jewelry used in the fraudulent process.

The six suspects have been placed under theoretical custody, at the disposal for an investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor in the city of Sefrou, in order to reveal all the circumstances of this case.

The research and investigations are still ongoing with the aim of arresting all the contributors and participants in this criminal activity.
