A total of 3.4 million people have chosen Morocco as their tourist destination during the first half of the current year, said Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor on Tuesday.
The Minister stated in response to oral questions in the House of Councilors that Morocco has achieved a recovery in the sector during the first six months of the current year, confirming that the number of tourists has quadrupled compared to the past year.
Last month, a total of 1.4 million tourists entered the country, with hard currency incomes reaching MAD 20 billion, according to the same source.
“The Ministry is betting on the e-visa in the future,” Ammor added.
Recently, Foreign Affairs Ministry announced the launch of the procedures for granting electronic e-Visas starting July 10 via the platform http://www.acces-maroc.ma , in a move to facilitate the granting of visas to foreigners coming from 49 countries.
The government official went on to say that strengthening the link between internal destinations and the rest of the world in collaboration with travel agencies is vital to boosting tourism, noting that 60% of visitors came only to discover the country’s cultural diversity.
Regarding the Forsa program, the Tourism Minister stated that file processing has reached 100%, and project owners have been invited to complete the procedures while waiting to pass the training courses that will bring them closer to the basic skills of the contractor.
“It is also important for project owners to study the target, law, digital marketing, and different types of expenses,” she added.
Ammor also confirmed that the ministry will keep up with the projects, noting that 20% of the candidates submitted projects in trade and industry, 15% in agriculture and agro-food, 7% in textiles, and 6% in services, with many of them coming up with new innovative ideas.
