The recovery of Morocco’s tourism sector is accelerating, with more than 1.14 million tourist arrivals this June 2022, as the number keeps increasing.

The current pace of tourist arrivals to Morocco is exceeding both the 2019, 2021 seasons.

The Ministry of Tourism said in a statement that “the sector is maintaining its steady pace across all indicators, including the number of tourist arrivals.”

“The month of June has recorded more than 1,14 million tourist arrivals, a performance exceeding June’s 2019 arrival of 1,09 million tourists,” continued the statement.

This growth accounts for 5%, according to the Ministry, as June 2022’s number exceeded, by far, results achieved in 2021.

The Ministry added that “tourism in Morocco continues to climb towards its pre-pandemic levels. The accelerated pace of recovery even outperformed an overshoot of 2019 returns for the summer period.”

Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) contributed significantly to this growth with an arrival of 620,000 this June 2022. Their arrival will peak strongly this current month and in August as well, according to the same source.

The road to Moroccan tourism’s post-pandemic recovery depended on several factors, including the strengthening of air travel capacity, which exceeds the 2019’s offer.

Additionally, the government easing COVID-19 travel restrictions, and the various partnerships signed with tour operators, helped secure a large number of arrivals to Morocco.

Various other measures were undertaken to accentuate the attractiveness of the Kingdom as a tourist destination globally, such as the introduction and launch of e-visa for tourists from 49 countries, which highly contribute to drawing more travelers to Morocco.
