The National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) urges road users to double their vigilance and take all necessary safety precautions, in anticipation of the heavy traffic that marks the period of Eid Al Adha, especially as it coincides with summer season.
In a statement, NARSA reminds all road users, especially pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and drivers of various types of vehicles, the need to be vigilant and cautious on the roads and take all necessary precautions and measures to ensure road safety.
NARSA stresses the need for drivers to submit their vehicles to a mechanical inspection and a thorough technical examination of safety systems before driving to ensure their proper functioning, especially tires, brakes, shock absorbers and wipers.
The agency also urged drivers to get enough rest to drive safely and healthily without exhaustion, which can diminish concentration and affect their ability to judge distance, speed and responsiveness behind the wheel.
NARSA’s statement added that travelers are also advised to prepare their trip by defining their routes in advance, to avoid any unpleasant surprises or potential dangers, to arrange and place the luggage safely without overloading the vehicle, especially for drivers of goods and public transport of passengers, as this represents a danger to the safety of other road users.
It also calls for compliance with health and preventive measures decreed by the competent authorities to contain the spread of Covid-19 and ensure proper conditions for the celebration of Eid Al Adha.
When driving, NARSA encourages drivers to reduce their speed and adapt it to the weather and traffic conditions, to observe the Highway Code, especially on curves, slopes and steep roads, and to keep the safety distance inside and outside the urban perimeter, especially on national roads and highways, pointing out that children under ten years of age must occupy the rear seats, with the obligation to use seat belts, whether for front or rear passengers or passengers of public transport buses for passengers.
The agency also draws the attention of road users to the need to avoid the use of cell phones while driving and the use of the hard shoulder on the freeway and to drive in a line, as well as to use the signal when overtaking and stopping while avoiding sudden maneuvers.
