Fuel prices in Morocco are expected to fall in the coming days, offering drivers some relief after Eid al-Adha travel and household spending, according to sector sources.
The expected cut would affect both diesel and gasoline, following a decline in international oil prices that usually reaches Moroccan pumps after a short delay.
Morocco’s fuel market has operated under liberalized pricing since 2015, leaving distributors to adjust pump prices according to international market movements, taxes and margins.
The expected decrease follows an earlier May 1 reduction, when diesel and gasoline prices fell back below 15 dirhams per liter after several weeks of increases. Medias24 reported at the time that diesel was selling at about 14.5 dirhams per liter, down by around one dirham from the previous fortnight, while gasoline also declined.
Fuel prices remain closely watched in Morocco because changes at the pump affect household transport costs as well as taxis, freight operators and small businesses that depend heavily on diesel.
The 2015 liberalization ended administered pricing for petroleum products, exposing consumers more directly to swings in global markets.
