The national collective of students in Ukraine rejects the Higher Education Ministry’s proposal to take an entrance exam to integrate Moroccan universities.

The large majority of Moroccan students in Ukraine say they want to integrate unconditionally and with no entrance exam.

A member of the collective of Moroccan students in Ukraine who asked to remain anonymous told Hespress EN that they reject the proposal for three main reasons, including the lack of fairness in chances, unclarity regarding the required number of students, and they are mistrusting the Ministry.

The Higher Education Minister said in the House of councilors that the integration of students returning from Ukraine into universities and higher institutes will be based on an entrance exam, which is expected to take place after the upcoming Eid in July.

The collective member further told Hespress EN that students are going to protest against the proposal next Tuesday in front of the Ministry’s headquarters.

“There is a large part of students who are in their last year of studies, and who even graduated online from their universities,” he stated.

“Ukrainian universities are so organized, and students were able to resume their studies remotely,” he added.

Regarding first and second-year students, the collective member said if the Ministry is planning to integrate students into the previous year (Y-1), then those enrolled in Moroccan universities should take the same exam to have fair chances of admission.

“Most graduate students from Ukraine when they get their diploma accredited in Morocco, and open their private practices, they do great in their job,” he added.

The collective member further stated that Ukrainian universities do not only provide theoretical courses, but also training.

Following the Russian offensive in Ukraine that began on February 24 and that lasts for over 100 days, most Moroccan students returned to their home country, in hopes to find a solution to their case.

The Higher Education Ministry launched shortly after their return a digital platform, aiming to collect data on the repatriated students as well as study their possible admission into Moroccan universities.

The file has been opened for months back and forth with the Ministry, no solution has been found yet, and protests have been set since their return in the country.
