Netflix’s most-watched series ever Squid Game is coming back for another season. The Korean drama series won three awards at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards, according to US Magazine.
Netflix posted a letter written by Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-Hyuk to his fans saying: “It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever.” The American streaming service also posted a teaser video.
Netflix did not announce the date for the second season’s return.
Squid Game is a Korean television series about a competition between 456 people who are struggling with massive amounts of debt. The story incorporates playing deadly versions of popular children’s games from the 1970s and 1980s in Korea for a chance to win a grand prize of 45.6 billion won. The players are fighting for their lives.
The first episode of the series premiered on Netflix on 17 September 2021. It reached No. 1 on Netflix’s Top 10 list in 90 countries, becoming the first Korean series to hold the spot of No.1 in the US.
