Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte received Moroccan Head of Government and Rally of Independents (RNI) president Aziz Akhannouch, this Tuesday in Rotterdam.
The meeting was held in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, a few weeks after the Netherlands announced its support for Morocco’s autonomy plan for Western Sahara.

Akhannouch also met with the leader of the Spanish People’s Party (PP), after the latter had announced his intention to reassure Akhannouch of the PP’s “loyalty,” if elected to the Spanish government majority on December 2023.
The president of the PP also accepted an invitation from the head of government, to visit Morocco during the year, reports EFE.

A statement from RNI also indicates that Akhannouch is present in the Netherlands, as party leader, accompanied by a delegation consisting of members of the political bureau, namely Mohamed Aujjar, Amina Benkhadra and Nadia Fettah.
On this occasion, meetings between party officials and their counterparts participating in this conclave “were an opportunity to shed light on a number of issues and files of common interest, especially in light of the strategic relations linking Morocco to several European countries, including the issue of territorial integrity,” the statement added.
Participants in this conference exchanged views on various issues including migration, security and climate, highlighting the need to unite their efforts and discuss ways to find solutions to current and future challenges according to comprehensive strategies and participatory approaches, the statement concluded.
