The Italian embassy in Ukraine, reopened Monday in the capital Kyiv after it was transferred in March from Kyiv to Lviv for security reasons.
The announcement was made by the local press, which recalls that like other Western countries, Rome had decided in early March to close its embassy in Kyiv, given the deterioration of the security situation.
The head of Italian diplomacy, Luigi Di Maio, said on Friday that Ambassador Pier Francesco Zazo arrived in Kyiv and the Italian representation would be “fully operational again by Monday.”
“It is the symbol of an Italy that does not waste time, that does not stop believing in diplomacy and constantly seeks peace,” he added.
On its website, the embassy says its services remain limited to assistance to businesses.
It will assist Italian nationals and issue emergency travel documents, while visa applications remain suspended.
