The number of new COVID-19 cases and deaths reported worldwide fell by 16% and 43%, respectively, last week, after a slight increase in early March, according to the new weekly epidemiological bulletin issued by the World Health Organization (WHO).

“Following the noticeable increase in early March 2022, the number of new COVID-19 cases decreased for a second consecutive week, with a drop of 16% for the period from March 28 to April 3, compared to the previous week,” WHO said.

The number of new weekly deaths also fell sharply (43%), down compared to the previous week, the same source added.

WHO further stated that all countries around the world reported declining trends in both new weekly cases and deaths.

As for Morocco, the epidemiological situation remains stable and controllable, said the coordinator at the National Center for Emergency Operations of Public Health of the Ministry, Mouad Merabet.

Morocco is reporting 92 new infections on average each day, representing 1% of the peak, according to Reuters’ latest COVID Tracker released Thursday.
