The Moroccan National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) has taken urgent action against chocolate “Kinder” chocolate, due to a suspected infection with Salmonella Typhimurium bacteria, responsible for food poisoning of some of the batches of the brand in Europe.
The ONSSA has this Tuesday evening to withdraw the batches of chocolate from the marketing circuit in Morocco.
The recall concerns are Kinder Surprise 20g and 100g with expiration dates between the end of June 2022 and the end of October 2022, Kinder Schoko-Bons with expiration dates between the end of April and end of August 2022, and Kinder Mini Eggs with expiration dates between end of April and end of August.
In addition, Kinder Happy Moments and Kinder Mix with expiration dates at the end of August 2022 are also suspected of being contaminated.
The ONSSA invites consumers “not to buy the Kinder products whose references are indicated below and asks those selling them not to distribute them.”
The press release states that ONSSA “will strengthen the import control of all products of the Kinder brand, and will proceed to the immediate withdrawal of batches of suspected products from importers and retailers.”
Cases of salmonellosis have been detected in Europe, as suspicions are turning to the infection with the bacterium Salmonella Typhimurium, responsible for food-borne diseases.
