Moroccan national football will now have a museum, which will be located at the Mohammed VI Complex in Maâmora in Sale, near Rabat.
The National Foundation of Museums (FNM) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) have sealed a partnership agreement for the creation and management of the National Museum of Football on Monday in Rabat.
The convention was signed by the president of the FNM, Mehdi Qotbi, and the president of the FRMF, Faouzi Lekjaa, and established a framework of cooperation and partnership for the creation and management of the National Museum of Football at the Complex Mohammed VI in Maâmora.
The National Museum of Football, built on a total area of nearly 2,100 m2, is part of the FRMF’s efforts for the preservation and enhancement of the memory of national football and reflects the importance attached to the cultural and sporting heritage.
According to the head of the FRMF, Faouzi Lekjaa, the site of the Complex Mohammed VI is “one of the best spaces in the world for football,” and the creation of a national museum is a project that required “nearly a year of work,” with a dedicated team, and will highlight the history of national football, starting in 1906.
The history of Moroccan national football will be traced extraordinarily through the exhibition of photographs, images, and objects, said Lekjaa, stressing that the museum will offer all generations, especially young people, the opportunity to learn about the performances of Moroccan footballers from the past.
The president of the FNM said that this partnership is part of an extraordinarily dynamic, which illustrates the sporting history of the Kingdom, “perhaps unknown to the younger generation.”
