The British singer Adele has announced the postponement of her Las Vegas residency, one day before it was set to kick-off, following the Covid-19 surge among her crew.
Adele published a video post in tears on her Instagram, expressing her disappointment over the postponement of her shows due to COVID-19, saying, “my team tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid.”
“I’m so sorry but my show ain’t ready,” she said. “Half my crew, half my team is down with Covid. They still are, and it’s been impossible to finish the show. And I can’t give you what I have right now, and I’m gutted,” she added.
The pop star apologized to her fans in the same Instagram video post, “I’m sorry it’s so last minute. We’ve been awake for over 30 hours now trying to figure it out, and we’ve run out of time,” she said. “And I’m so upset, and I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to everyone who traveled, again.
Adele’s series of shows was set to take place this Friday and will last until April 16.
Tickets were made available in December, with record-breaking sales in Box Office, after Adele’s fans booked 100,000 tickets, resulting in a record per-show average gross of $2.2 million, with ticket prices ranging between $85 to $600 for the balcony, and from $860 to $5,000 for the lower section.
The British singer said her shows would be rescheduled to a later date.
On November 19, Adele unveiled her long-awaited new album 30, with the first released song “Easy on me”, which ranked on top of the charts worldwide, totaling 228 million views on the streaming platform Youtube.
