The spike of daily COVID-19 cases in Morocco and specifically, among parliamentary personnel and officials, has prompted the parliament’s administration to reduce staff attendance and to adopt remote work.
The House of Representatives administration issued a memorandum on organizing the attendance process, by reducing in-person attendance as a preventive measure to limit the spread of the virus and its newly emerged mutators.
The memo called on all administrative officials to manage the attendance process by reducing the number of employees working in each administrative unit to the minimum, meaning the number necessary to perform required tasks, with the exception of “administrative officials.”
The memorandum also emphasized the current need for “rotation” of staff, in the distribution of tasks and type of attendance required.
The rotation system will allow for a 50% capacity attendance and remote work, between working at the headquarters of the Council and working remotely every 48 hours.
The memo additionally advises staff to avoid traveling outside the capital, Rabat, and its regions during working days.
The memorandum urged employees to be serious and disciplined at work, to remain at the disposal of the administration, and to receive remaining vaccine doses.
The House will “continue to take the necessary precautions related to hygiene and health safety rules, such as the obligation to wear a mask, frequent sanitization, ventilation of offices, and respect for social distancing measures,” concludes the memo.
