Chariot, a UK gas exploration company, which is operating in Morocco has announced a “significant” gas discovery offshore Larache this Monday, January 10.

Following the result of the “Anchois-2” appraisal and exploration well on the “Anchois” gas project within the Lixus license, Chariot has found “high-quality reservoirs” in all gas sands.

According to a statement from Chariot Oil, “the Anchois-2 well was safely and efficiently drilled to a total measured depth of 2,512m by the Stena Don drilling rig in 381m of water.”

Chariot Oil added that “a full evaluation of the well was undertaken through wireline logging, including petrophysical evaluation, subsurface formation testing, including reservoir pressures and gas sampling, and sidewall testing.”

A preliminary interpretation of Chariot’s available data “confirms the presence of significant gas accumulations in the Anchois-2 well appraisal and exploration objectives,” says the statement, while “a calculated net gas layer of more than 100 m, compared to the previous year’s gas layer.”

Chariot holds a 75% interest in the Lixus license, in partnership with the Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM), which owns the remaining 25%.
