Casablanca’s state department of the judicial police arrested, on Wednesday, December 29, 8 suspects, 3 of them with prior criminal convictions, allegedly in conjunction with the scheme to forge vaccination passports by including the personal data of non-vaccinators in a database containing data about vaccinated persons in exchange for payment.

In a report to the General Directorate of National Security, it was reported that one of the main suspects in this case, an authority officer working in the city of Casablanca, was arrested along with 6 mediators and participants involved in the crime, as well as a woman suspected of a relationship with a suspect.

The same source specifies that preliminary data of the research revealed that the main suspect had entered false vaccination data into the national vaccination database, in order to obtain fake vaccination passports for non-vaccinators in exchange for specific sums of money, while others who were involved in the mediation operations are currently under pending investigations to determine the full details of the crime.

The suspects were held under theoretical guard at the judicial research reference center, which is under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor, in order to detect all those involved in the commission of these crimes that directly threaten the country’s public health, and are detrimental to the epidemiological situation in Morocco.
